Cappuccino

Morning routine or ritual – cappuccino. I got so hooked with Cappuccino since our visits to Australia. They do coffee right. Here I use a mocha pot since we don’t have a very expensive and huge espresso machine but this works well. Recently we bought an electric milk frother to make milk foamy. I also have a foam wand which is shown here. Both tools make great foam.

Use a mocha pot to make espresso coffee and either an electric frother or a handheld frother

Ingredients

  • 2 TBS Espresso coffee (illy or any brand)

  • 3/4 cup water

  • 1 and 1/2 cup whole milk (add more milk if you like latte style)

  • some cocoa powder and/or cinnamon powder

Directions

  • Dissemble the mocha pot first.
  • Pour cold water up to the water line in the water tank. (can use boiled water to speed things up)
  • Fill the coffee strainer with espresso coffee and fit it in the tank.
  • Assemble the pot and place it on high heat. (if using boiled water, be careful not to touch the pot directly.)
  • Once it is brewed, remove the pot from the stove.
  • While the coffee is brewing, heat milk in a pot. When it is hot enough (not boiling) , use a frother to make milk foam.
  • In a cappuccino cup, put expresso coffee and warm milk. (1:2 ratio, 1 coffee, 2 milk). Sprinkle cocoa powder on top if you like.

Notes

  • If hand held frother is not available, use small whisker to foam milk.
