Ginger Pork and Rice

Ginger pork is a popular dish in Japan. Thinly sliced pork cooked with ginger, soy sauce and mirin (sweet sake) becomes a very tasty dish . It goes well with rice, and many restaurants offer it as a lunch special because it is quick and easy to make and is very popular.

I haven’t seen it much in the States, so I would like to introduce this very quick easy dish. American thinly sliced meat is a bit too lean and not suitable for this dish. If possible, check out a Japanese supermarket which carries real thin sliced pork and not too lean. If that is not available, use lean sliced pork but pound thinner and use a bit more oil when cooking.

All you need is to combine all ingredients and sauté them in a frying pan on med heat.  Japanese short-grain white rice goes very well with this dish.  By plating in a small portion as seen on the photo, it can change to a stylish dish.  It is also great when you are in a hurry or super hungry.
